Just what is independence for a financial professional?
Well, some think of it like working for a company versus running your own business. Affiliated or controlled financial representatives may be restricted in presenting investment options to you because they typically have to choose only from investments and products approved by their company, essentially the offerings their boss says they can use. Financial representatives who are NOT independent are many times restricted to proprietary products, which can present a conflict of interest and which may not present the best investment alternatives for your individual situation.
As an independent financial professional, we are able to review a much broader range of investment options and, with your input, we can select those investments that best fit your needs.
We believe strongly that the independent financial representative business model is the one that puts both the clients’ and the advisor’s interests into harmony. As an independent firm, we can provide fair and objective counsel to clients without the undue pressure of sales goals or proprietary product restrictions. In the end, we believe clients can rest more assured that their financial goals are being appropriately placed in the center of the planning and investing process. If you want the advantages of an independent financial representative call EFS Group Wealth Management today!
Why Use a Certified Financial Planner (CFP?)
Financial matters are often one of the main issues in a person's life. If left unmanaged, financial issues can become a major source of worry and concern that can take over a person's daily life. Working with a dedicated financial advisor to develop a strategy will help get you on the path that leads to stability and more confidence in your financial goals.
Choosing a financial planner may be one of the most important decisions you make for yourself and your loved ones. Most people think that all financial planners are "certified" but that is not always true. Many can call himself or herself a "Financial Planner", but only those who have fulfilled the certification and renewal requirements of the CFP Board can display the CFP certification marks behind their name.
For 25 years, the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards has fostered the highest standards of excellence for financial planners. Today more than 61,000 financial planners in the U.S. have earned the right to call themselves a Certified Financial Planner professional. There are still licensing requirements to hold out the title Financial Planner.
It’s not an easy designation to get. In order to achieve CFP certification, professionals must satisfy the CFP board’s stringent requirements. That means completing advanced college level studies on nearly 100 topics, compiling three years of work experience, passing a 10hr 2 day exam and agreeing to uphold the fiduciary standard which means putting the client’s interest first above all others.
In this unsettling era of economic volatility, complex financial choices, and continuing wariness about the investment marketplace, it’s nice to know you can call a CFP professional to help you make and keep a financial plan that’s best for you.
We feel strongly that the adherence to the ethical standards set forth in the Code of Ethics and the continuing education and certification process demanded by the CFP Board should be of the utmost importance to our clients. We want those that choose to work with us to have complete confidence in EFS Group Wealth Management for their financial planning.
