Wealth Manager

I am committed to you and your family’s prosperity. As a wealth manager, I help successful people, who are approaching retirement or are retired from working, to clarify and realize their financial goals through the unique EFS Group Wealth Management Process. I understand the challenges today’s retirees face and distinguish myself by offering a highly professional, consultative approach to wealth management. I take great pride in knowing that as one of the top independent wealth management firms, that we focus on creating and preserving wealth.

I graduated from Dordt College in Sioux Center with a bachelor’s degree in business and accounting. I began my career in the financial services industry in 1991, and have since received many accolades including the prestigious CFP® certification from the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards. I am a FINRA licensed advisor offering insurance, annuities, securities and financial planning services.

The practice of the future is a financial services practice that provides comprehensive planning and behavioral coaching. The DOL Fiduciary rule has accelerated the need for advisors to shift away from investment management as the sole driver of their value and incorporate holistic advice and value-added service offerings. As a leader in the financial advising industry, I feel it is a key component of helping you achieve your targeted financial future. To help our firm excel in providing behavioral coaching to our clients, I brought our staff on board to the Behavior Financial Advisor Training Program in cooperation with think2perform and Securities America.

Being able to confidently determine when you can retire and ensure you have the freedom to choose the retirement lifestyle you desire is my focus. The only way to achieve this is to have a well-thought-out plan.

I utilize the Income for Life Model™, which is a retirement income planning process that divides money into time segmented “buckets” with the goal of never drawing income from an account that has suffered a loss. Having a strategy in place cannot guarantee profit or protect from market loss, however, it can help reduce the impact of the emotional decisions people tend to make in volatile markets.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family. I am married to Sheri and together we have three grown children. I also enjoy boating and golfing.
